What is power electronics:
Power Electronics discusses those electronic circuits, which can control the electrical energy flow.
Otherwise, Power Electronics is switching electronic circuits in order to control the flow of electrical energy.Power electronics and control are the combination of Power Electronics.
Power Electronic is process of  Electric energy  and control for voltage and current on user load.
In 1900 , the introduction of Power Electronics was introduced by Mercury Arc.After the silicon transistors were discovered, there was a great development of power electronics.

Power semiconductor devices have high quality power due to low quality power loss
>The power electronics system has a lot of reliability.
>The maintenance needs less, because there is no rolling part.
>Being low in weight and size is small, placing costs and places takes less.
>Works at high frequencies.
>Respond quickly .

Demerits of Power Electronics :

>There is a tendency to produce harmonic .
>It has to be operated at very low power factor to convert (AC-DC / DC-AC ).
>Over load carrying capacity is much less.
>Power generation is very difficult at Power Electronics.
